City of Tshwane in South Africa selects NURI Telecom to implement the Advanced Metering Infrastructure for Electricity customers.

Mar 18 2011 — Nuri Telecom signed a contract with Mandla Telenologies (Pty) Ltd. to supply Advanced Metering Infrastructure products and solution for the South Africa's Administrative Capatial City of Tshwane. The City of Tshwane plans to implement the Energy Management System installation including AMI for the 500,000 commercial, industrial and residential electricity households in the City. Following a formal tender process, Nuri Telecom and Mandla consortium was chosen for one of 4 consortiums to commence the first phase with 4,000 smart meters allocated per consortium in 2011. Nuri Telecom will help streamline meter reading and enhance customer service by enabling the City to instantaneously access electricity usage data using AMI technology. "We're proud to receive the award for the first AMI project in African market and to work with City of Tshwane to make its Smart Grid foundation." said Songman Cho, CEO of Nuri Telecom Co., Ltd. in Korea. NURI Telecom has established a local office in South Africa last year to continue to expand in the African Continent and has presented its AMI solutions and products at 'African Utility Week 2012' held in Cape Town, South Africa during March 14-16 2012.
