City of Tshwane in South Africa selects NURI Telecom to implement the Advanced Metering Infrastructure for Electricity customers.

Mar 18 2011 — Nuri Telecom signed a contract with Mandla Telenologies (Pty) Ltd. to supply Advanced Metering Infrastructure products and solution for the South Africa's Administrative Capatial City of Tshwane. The City of Tshwane plans to implement the Energy Management System installation including AMI for the 500,000 commercial, industrial and residential electricity households in the City. Following a formal tender process, Nuri Telecom and Mandla consortium was chosen for one of 4 consortiums to commence the first phase with 4,000 smart meters allocated per consortium in 2011. Nuri Telecom will help streamline meter reading and enhance customer service by enabling the City to instantaneously access electricity usage data using AMI technology.
