Wireless Gas MIUs are part of Nuri Telecom's family of end-to-end Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) connectivity solutions. They transform standalone mechanical gas meters with pulse output into an integral part of the Smart Grid network. The MIUs are battery powered and are designed to directly mount on new or legacy residential and commercial gas meters. The MIU collects pulses from the gas meter, stores accumulated pulses and generates interval data.

Gas meters equipped with a Nuri MIU, communicate interval data along with the tamper and battery health information over Nuri's AiMiR two-way wireless mesh Local Area Network to an AiMiR Concentrator. The Concentrator transmits the data over a two-way fi xed common carrier Wide Area Network. Alternately, it communicates the data directly to the utility data center over a commercially available two-way data communication network.

MIUs can be remotely configured through the AiMIR Concentrator. Additionally, they employ sophisticated power management techniques to ensure long battery life. This networking arrangement gives utilities the flexibility to add a wide range of cutting-edge applications such as gas pressure monitoring, temperature monitoring, remote connect and disconnect, and others in the future.
